Places to Visit In Uçhisar
Uçhisar is located on the Persians King Road and also Silk Road, which is the trade route of the Selçuks. It is a favorite stop in Cappadocia with rock carved houses, magnificent castle, excellent boutique hotels and restaurants in recent years. We recommend you to enjoy this natural miracle geography.
Uçhisar Castle is an ideal place to watch the incredible colors of the entire Cappadocia geography, especially at sunset. The local people call the bigger castle "Ağanın Kalesi" and the smaller one "Çavuşun Kalesi". Uçhisar Castle visiting hours 07.30-17.30. The entrance fee is 8 TL, the discounted ticket is 4 TL. It open to visitors 7 days a week. The Museum Card is not valid.
Tığraz, the second largest castle of Uçhisar, is an interesting underground city with its carved rock rooms, tunnels, cellars and seven floors from the summit to the valley. It can be viewed only outside for security reasons.
This place is not only among the attractions in Uçhisar, it is one of the most frequently visited places by who come to Cappadocia. There is also a waterfall in this valley, which continues until Göreme. This name was given because there are many pigeons living in the valley.
Cevizli, located at the back of Uçhisar Castle, is a very popular place. The Nevşehir-Göreme road passes right in front of it. There are souvenir shops in front of the Cevizli and you can spend a nice half day behind this place. Drink tea, coffee and taste wine. Enjoy the view. Don’t forget to take a picture of the fairy chimney with a hat.
A La Turca Collection
This is a colorful shop which you should visit. There are carpets, rugs, bags, ceramics, baked bowls, rings, necklaces, earrings and more brought from the region and various parts of Anatolia. Also take a look at local clothes brought from Central Asia. This is like a museum for us.
This place is on the left of Alaturka Taner in Uçhisar Square. This place also has opulent handmade carpets, rugs and other fine items. Check out handmade items even if you don't buy them.
Göreme National Park
The natural structure of Göreme Valley is one of the most interesting places of the region with countless churches and fairy chimneys carved into the rocks. Visit the churches with murals and walk in its valleys in this unlike any other place on earth.
Göreme Open Air Museum visiting hours are 08.00-19.00 in the summer season (April 1 - October 1), 08.00-17.00 in the winter season (October 1 - April 1). The ticket sales office closes at 18.30 in the summer and 16.15 in the winter season. The open air museum is open 7 days a week. Göreme Open Air Museum entrance fee is 75TL. Museum Card is valid.
