Uchisar Travel Guide

Uchisar is located at the highest point of Cappadocia, hosting the most stunning rock hotels and elegant restaurants of the region, and also a place preferred by high-income visitors, where you will see the best panoramic views of Cappadocia geography.

As you walk through the narrow streets and cobblestone roads around the castle, you see a neglected but preserved settlement. In recent years, the ruined buildings have been repaired incredibly and have come back to life as extraordinarily beautiful buildings.

At the end of Goreme Street, you arrive in a parking lot, from here you reach the top of the hill in about 15 minutes, passing through the shop, with a ticket you buy from inside a gift shop. This is the most strategic point to admire the geological structure of Cappadocia once again. Erciyes Mountain in the east, Melendiz and Hasan Mountains in the southwest are even more breathtaking from here.

In the Uchisar Castle, where there was a settlement in the past, it was evacuated in order not to endanger the safety of the inhabitants. The best time to climb to the top of the 160-meter rock that carries Uchisar on its top is sunset.

Uchisar Castle has a location that allows panoramic views of all places to see in the Cappadocia region. From the summit of Uchisar Castle, you can watch a great geography from Kizilcukur, Ortahisar, Urgup, İbrahimpasa, Mustafapasa and Gomeda valleys to Goreme, Avanos, Cavusin, Nevsehir, Cat and Erciyes.

Uchisar Castle, one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset, is between 07:30 AM and 05:30 PM. The entrance fee of the Uchisar Castle, which is open to visitors 7 days a week, is 8 Turkish Lira, while the price decreases up to 4 Turkish Lira thanks to the discounted ticket. Unfortunately, the Museum pass (Card) is not valid.

Guvercinlik Valley is a 4100-meter valley stretching from Uchisar to Goreme in Cappadocia, where pigeon houses are densely located. It takes its name from the pigeons that feed in nests called 'Pigeon Loft' carved in the valleys. It is a nice trekking route to watch the pigeons and enjoy the view.
